Compare meaningful limitations
A free tier might cap generations, file sizes, context, export resolution or number of projects. For business use, look for watermark, licensing and collaboration constraints.
Estimate total cost of ownership
Account for subscriptions, API use, troubleshooting effort, integrations and time spent correcting poor outputs. A paid plan can be cheaper overall if it meaningfully reduces rework.
Avoid assuming “free” means private
Read data-handling, model-training and retention policies. Sensitive business or personal content may need a provider agreement and an approved environment.

Pick one typical task, save the input, measure the result and repeat it in a second tool. Decide based on output quality, control and cost, not social-media popularity alone.
